How to make an illuminated sea glass and seashell bowl

A while ago I posted a picture on our sea glass face book page about a bowl I made using sea glass and seashells and I got so many questions about how to make it I thought I would tell you all here.

The bowl itself when lit can give the impression that you have actually added water and that the seashells are floating. No water is added. This is just an optical illusion.

Materials you will need.

1 glass or plastic clear bowl

A couple of cups of seashells

Around 100 – 200 grams of white sea glass

A couple pf cups of beach sand

1 set of  20  blue LED Christmas tree lights. Battery operated.

Step 1: Empty the sand into the bottom of the bowl.

Step 2: Put some of the sea glass on top of the sand and at the same time start to arrange the sea shells around the outside of the bowl.

Step 3: Start to feed into the bowl the Christmas tree lights.

Step 4:  Continue to repeat steps 2 and 3 until you reach the top of the bowl, leaving the battery case of the lights on the outside of the bowl so they can be placed behind it out of sight.
