Hand Knitted Beach Bags

Due to the very long dark winter nights I have decided to take up knitting once again. We thought it would be a good idea to introduce some hand knitted beach themed shoulder bags. Each bag has taken many many hours to create and is fully lined. They all feature pretty little starfish charms and are finished with a strong hessian lace trim and shoulder strap. They measure around 8- 9 inches square and have plenty of room to hold your sun glasses, lotions, phone and purse but are not big enough to carry a beach towel. They also make really stylish every day bags. We know they are not sea glass but as we have such a large beach loving audience of followers we though it would be something extra to offer.

We hope you enjoy them.

How to clean sea glass jewelry

We have many enquiries as to how is the best way to clean sea glass and sea glass jewelry the simple answer is to wash the sea glass itself in mild warm soapy water and they dry with paper towels.

To care and clean sea glass jewelry is a matter of preservation. Keep it as dry as possible at all times. Never wear it in the sea, bath or pool and try not to let body sprays, lotions or perfumes touch it. Cosmetics can have strange effects on metal jewelry, even the smallest amount can trigger a reaction and shorten is lifespan drastically.  Also don’t wear your jewelry to bed this can damage it.

When not in use store it in a clean air tight plastic bag.  Should the sea glass in your piece of jewelry become dirty then if possible remove it from its setting and wash in mild soapy water making sure to thoroughly dry it before returning it to it’s setting.

To clean the silver plated metal or sterling metal we advise to rub lightly with a dry soft cloth after it has been worn.

After a period of time you may find that your sea glass in your jewelry looses its frosty look. This is due to the natural oils in your body coating the glass. To bring back the natural frosty look simply wash it with mild soapy water and return it to its setting again. If on the other hand you prefer the more transparent look of sea glass this can be enhanced by dabbing a drop or two of baby oil on the glass itself and rub it into the glass then using a paper towel rub off as much as you can. Sea glasses natural state is frosty however.

We don’t treat any of our sea glass with oils they are all hand washed and left in their natural state the way nature and the sea gave them to us.

Exploring Wales from coast to mountains.

We had a lovely day today exploring some of our favorite little places in Wales. I won’t waffle on too much as there are so many pictures to show you. Firstly we stopped off at Conwy (formerly known as Conway) which faces the town of Deganwy across the river Conwy on the North Wales coast. It is a delightful historical small walled market town which is dominated by its imposing large historical castle. It has a small working harbour and even though the town is quite small there is plenty to see and can often become very busy in high season. We managed to visit today when it was quiet so we got to appreciate it much more.

After Conwy we headed inland by around 15 miles and stopped off at the popular small village of Betws-y-Coed. Which actually means “Prayer house in the wood”. It lies in the beautiful Snowdonia National park and is popular with hikers, walkers and mountain climbers. Like Conwy it is small and can become very busy in peak season so try to visit at quieter times to appreciate it to it’s fullest. It is a very pretty little village with lots of walks alongside the river Lugwy. We took some pictures of the water falls from the miners bridge there.

Next we drove for only another 20 minutes or so until we reached an area just outside of Capel Curig and just before Bethesda still within the Snowdonia National Park. There the terrain becomes just breath taking and I don’t think that pictures can really captivate the natural beauty of these mountains and lakes. We did take some pictures as we were driving along but also did manage to stop to take a few more.
